The Chicago Blackhawks have introduced 'Sticks In,' a platform designed to promote youth hockey across Illinois and neighboring states. This initiative aims to simplify access to information, encouraging more young people to explore hockey and its benefits.
Starting today, parents can utilize SticksIn.com as a comprehensive guide for community hockey resources. The site offers educational materials and an interactive tool that suggests programs based on factors such as location, age, and skill level. Although powered by the Blackhawks, the platform aggregates data from various regional rinks, clubs, and leagues.
Jaime Faulkner, Blackhawks President of Business Operations, emphasized the importance of youth sports: "As a parent of young children myself, I know youth sports are more important than ever to their development – being active, having fun, learning about teamwork and making new friends along the way." Faulkner acknowledged that while hockey is a fantastic sport, it can be challenging to navigate compared to other activities. "That’s why we built a place to help parents get educated, get excited – and ultimately, get their children started."
The launch coincides with the Chicago Blackhawks’ Try Hockey for Free weekend on October 12-13 at nearly 30 local rinks. This event is expected to introduce around 2,000 kids to hockey.
Andrea Hahn, Vice President of Amateur Hockey for the Blackhawks, added: “Whether you’re looking for your first steps...or perhaps even moving to Illinois and in need of a new team...We want to ensure everyone feels comfortable and confident learning to skate."
Initially featuring over 200 rink and club listings along with equipment guides and parent prep materials, Sticks In plans further expansion. The Blackhawks will also integrate this new brand into various marketing efforts to highlight the sport's joy.
