Illinois launches iGROW Tech Scholarship for STEM students

The Illinois Graduate and Retain Our Workforce (iGROW) Tech Scholarship is now accepting applications for the 2024-2025 academic year. This scholarship aims to support Illinois students pursuing careers in STEM fields by providing financial assistance for college tuition, fees, and room and board. In return, recipients must commit to working in Illinois after graduation.

The program is managed by the Illinois Student Assistance Commission and is available to eligible students attending participating colleges or universities in Illinois. Preference will be given to minority students, those with academic excellence, or those demonstrating financial need. The funding for this initiative is limited, so applicants are encouraged to apply by the priority deadline.

To qualify for the iGROW Tech Scholarship, applicants must meet several criteria: they must be U.S. citizens, eligible non-citizens, or undocumented students under the RISE Act; reside in Illinois; have graduated from an Illinois high school; maintain satisfactory academic progress; and be enrolled at least half-time in an ISAC-approved institution. Additionally, applicants should pursue undergraduate degrees such as computer science, computer information sciences, or cybersecurity.

The deadline for applications is November 30, 2024.
