Victor Love, a Chicago businessman, has announced the launch of his new podcast, Let's Go For a Ride, to begin in the fall of 2024 with local figures.
Love plans to discuss topics surrounding mental health, particularly for men in the black community.
"Black men are facing a mental health crisis. They are less likely to seek help and more likely to experience negative health outcomes. This is due to systemic racism, cultural stigma, and a lack of access to resources," Love said.
Love is a Chicago area businessman who is also a single father to four children. He reportedly struggled with uncertainty, fear and self-doubt; and with that realization came a pivotal moment to prioritize his mental health. He set aside the age old cultural stigmas that he should, "man up," "be tough," "don't be weak," etc. and sought help from a therapist to get a "check-up from the neck up."
Victor's journey became the inspiration for his podcast, "Let's Go For A Ride," where he and another black male guest ride along in his car or a vehicle provided by the show sponsor to discuss their mental health journey. "Let's Go For A Ride" provides a platform for black men to feel comfortable expressing themselves as well as helping other men realize that it's alright to prioritize their mental health and seek help to become whole.
Love attended Percy L. Julian High school and graduated from Arizona State University. He is the owner of Josephine's Southern Cooking.
