UIC releases annual security and fire safety report for 2024

The University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) has released its 2024 Annual Security and Fire Safety Report. This year's report aims to engage the community in shaping the university's public safety ecosystem.

John Coronado, Vice Chancellor for Administrative Services, emphasized the collaborative nature of safety at UIC. "At UIC, we view safety as a dynamic, collaborative effort," he stated. The report focuses on providing resources and real-time crime prevention tools to empower the community.

The report aligns with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act. It includes policy disclosures on various aspects such as crime prevention, building access and security, emergency response procedures, and programs to prevent dating violence, domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking under the Violence Against Women Act.

Additionally, it provides crime statistics for 2023, 2022, and 2021 for Clery Act crimes occurring on UIC property. Fire safety policies and statistics for on-campus student housing facilities are also included.

Coronado encouraged community involvement: "Your involvement is key to this immersive ecosystem." He urged everyone to engage with available resources and participate in campus conversations about safety.

The full text of the report is available online. For those who need a printed version, requests can be made by contacting cleryhelpdesk@uic.edu.
