As the fall semester progresses, the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) community is reminded to utilize available resources for support. The campus offers a range of services aimed at enhancing well-being and academic success.
Campus Recreation programs and fitness classes are accessible on both the east and west sides of campus. These facilities aim to support physical and mental health.
Students can also take advantage of various tutoring services designed to help them achieve their academic goals. Advising resources are available to assist undergraduate students in their educational journey.
The Counseling Center provides a confidential environment with personalized treatment plans for short-term and long-term therapy options. A new Student’s Guide to Accessing Behavioral Health Services outlines on-campus mental health resources.
The Office of the Dean of Students advises students on personal or academic concerns, directing them to appropriate resources. The Wellness Center focuses on helping students make healthy choices related to life balance, emotional support, social connections, academic success, and nutrition.
Student Health Services at the Family Medicine Center offers basic health and wellness services specifically for students.
Faculty and staff have access to additional resources such as the State of Illinois Employee Assistance Program, which provides free and confidential services. The University Health Service Employee Assistance Program offers professional assessments, short-term counseling, referrals, and follow-up for UIC employees and their families. Additionally, Be Well Illinois provides further resources for state employees.
Provost Karen Colley encourages everyone within the UIC community to seek help when needed: "It’s a busy time, but there are also so many good things going on at UIC because of all of you!"
