Sunday Adesuyi, a process assistant in Chicago for Amazon, said he utilized the Career Choice Program to better learn English and work on his communication skills in the workplace. Adesuyi provided his comments to the Southland Marquee on September 3.
"The Career Choice program has significantly boosted my confidence in public speaking," said Adesuyi, Process Assistant from Amazon's MDW5 Sort Center. "I can now interact with associates with confidence while explaining leadership processes and principles. It's a program that associates can leverage, especially for its educational benefits. Having your tuition fees paid while in school is truly mind-blowing."
According to About Amazon, Career Choice is an education benefit designed to help employees gain new skills through external educational opportunities. Amazon collaborates with employer partners to create ongoing pipelines of candidates, particularly in fields like healthcare, technology, mechanical and industrial systems, administration and business services, and transportation. The program has over 200,000 participants worldwide, more than 600 approved schools across 14 countries, and offers prepaid tuition and reimbursement for books and fees up to an annual limit.

Adesuyi used Amazon's Career Choice program to improve his English skills while working towards a promotion from Learning Ambassador to his current role. He moved to the United States from Nigeria in 2016 and found communicating in English in the U.S. different from back home. He attributes Career Choice with helping him feel more confident in his new position.
Amazon has pledged $1.2 billion to provide 300,000 employees with access to education and skills training through its Upskilling 2025 initiative, focusing on preparing workers for in-demand technical and non-technical roles. The initiative includes various programs like the Amazon Technical Apprenticeship, AWS Training and Certification, and Career Choice, all designed to help employees advance in their careers both within Amazon and in the broader job market.
"This investment builds on years of experience supporting employees in growing their careers, including some unique initiatives like building more than 145 on-site classrooms for our employees in Amazon fulfillment centers across more than 35 states," said former CEO of Worldwide Consumer at Amazon Dave Clark. "Today, over 80,000 Amazon employees around the world have already participated in Career Choice and we’ve seen first-hand how it can transform their lives."
