Amazon employees can take advantage of 8 benefits and perks

Amazon employees can take advantage of exclusive benefits and access to earned cash before payday, the company revealed in a January 8 blog post.

According to Amazon, when it comes to employees’ health, the company offers multiple benefits that may not be widely known. Employees who have Cigna, Aetna, or Premera insurance through Amazon can get discounts on prescription drugs—$5 per 30-day prescription or $10 off of 90-day prescriptions. Additionally, there is a team dedicated to working with employees and family members dealing with cancer diagnoses. The Amazon Cancer Advocacy, Resources, Education, and Support (CARES) program offers one-on-one support for employees and their family members (including hourly employees) diagnosed with cancer.

"I am proud that we offer our employees great jobs with great benefits, including a robust parental leave policy. We offer up to 20 weeks of fully paid parental leave, ways to share that leave with a partner, programs to help parents adjust back into full-time work, and other family-focused benefits," Senior Human Resources Business Partner at Amazon Metro Chicago said, according to Chicago Business.

Amazon also provides free mental health support for employees and their families. Through Amazon’s Employee Assistance Program (EAP), employees and those in their household, including children and teens, can receive five free counseling sessions per year.

Amazon's parental leave policy allows for pre-partum leave, beginning four weeks prior to due-date, and offers up to 16 weeks of 100% paid leave for birthing parents, and up to 6 weeks for "nonbirthing and adoptive parents who have continuously worked at Amazon for at least a year."

For employees who have been with the company for a year or longer, family leave is available. According to the blog post, birthing parents have access to up to 20 weeks of fully paid leave (including the four weeks before giving birth). The company also offers six weeks of paid leave to spouses and partners. Furthermore, if parents need flexibility to adjust to changes brought by an infant or adopted child, there is an 8-week Ramp-Back program that allows employees to work partial hours.

Among other benefits, Amazon allows employees to access up to 70% of the money they’ve earned through the Amazon Pay program. This benefit is available to many Amazon employees, including those in most corporate offices.

Amazon functions as an online store, book publisher and retailer, content studio and streaming service. The company has pioneered several innovations such as 1-Click shopping, personalized recommendations, Prime membership services, Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA), Amazon Web Services (AWS), Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP), Kindle devices, Career Choice programs for employee education funding, Fire tablets and TV devices, Amazon Echo smart speakers with Alexa voice assistant technology, and original content production through Amazon Studios.
