Jobs at the Park District 'make a difference in people’s lives'

The Chicago Park District has launched a recruitment campaign called “Your Perfect Summer Job”.

The Chicago Park District has launched a campaign to promote summer employment opportunities for qualified candidates aged 16 and above. The campaign, titled "Your Perfect Summer Job," aims to attract students on spring break and highlights job openings such as Lifeguard, Recreation Leader, and Junior Laborer, according to Chicago Park District.

"The ‘Your Perfect Summer Job’ campaign shines a bright light on the jobs that make a difference in people’s lives in the summer, and reminds all Chicagoans that Lifeguards, Recreation Leaders and Junior Laborers are unique jobs that are interesting, unique and fun, and deliver critical services that make our city a better place to live,” Rosa Escareño, superintendent and CEO at the Chicago Park District, said. “Jobs at the Park District are like no other. I encourage Chicagoans to find their perfect summer job at the Park District and embark on a meaningful and worthwhile career opportunity.”

One example is the Chicago Park District operates one of the largest aquatics programs in the country and is seeking lifeguards now to ensure visitors can enjoy our beaches and pools safely this summer. The summer lifeguard season starts as early as May, and runs through early September, according to the park district.

The campaign focuses on informing job-seeking Chicago residents about the variety of employment opportunities available at the District to help them find a job that best suits their interests, schedules and experience levels. The summer jobs offered by the district provide competitive wages, flexible work schedules, opportunities to build life skills, and paths to careers and full-time employment. The campaign emphasizes the chance to work both indoors and outdoors, depending on the position, and to have summer nights off, according to Chicago Park District.

The Chicago Park District hires over 2,500 seasonal employees each summer from different backgrounds to strengthen its workforce. These employees play a crucial role in providing a memorable summer experience for residents and visitors, contributing to the operations of the district's 614 parks and 26 miles of lakefront, according to Chicago Park District.
