Tickets run for $45-150, according to the event page. Buy tickets for $45 in advance, but they will be available at the door for $50. The event starts at 6:30 p.m. and finishes at 11 p.m. The scholarship winners will be announced at the event. It will take place at Hue Chicago located on 67 E. Cermak, Chicago Illinois.
According to its website, the NABJ Chicago Chapter was founded by Christine Harris, Vernon Jarrett, Francis Ward and Monroe Anderson and others in the 1970s with the goal to "better the profession" and to encourage young black professionals to become journalists.
It was originally called the Chicago Association of Black Journalists. The purpose of the group is "to bring together Chicago-area African American journalists dedicated to truth and excellence in news gathering and reporting, and equality in the media industry." It works to bring together black-owned media professionals and black journalists working in majority-owned media. They host meetings, events, networking gatherings and fundraisers every year. NABJ Chicago was the NABJ Chapter of the Year in 2009.
